Don’t Let the Holidays Stress You Out The “most wonderful time of the year” may not be all that wonderful for millions of Americans who are bothered by the stress, depression and anxiety that often comes with the hustle and bustle of the cold winter months. 17 million people in the United States are effected by depression, which tends to increase throughout the winter due to holidays, more family time, and less sunlight. Holidays can be a great time of year, but many people expect too much and feel that everything has to be perfect in order to have a successful holiday season. Anything from buying the right gift to making sure the pie does not burn can bring on a lot of stress to someone in this state of mind. Holiday stress can also be made worse because of the emphasis on family and friends. To someone who may not have a large family or many friends, or someone the season can bring depression.
