Produced by the pituitary gland, FSH measurement can help determine whether male testes or female ovaries are functioning properly.

Symptoms of low FSH level in men:

In men, FSH helps control the production of sperm. Low FSH in men can account for decreased sperm production and decreased size of the testes in children and adolescents.

In women, FSH helps control the menstrual cycle and production of eggs by the ovaries. In addition, the ratio of LH to FSH levels is used to diagnose Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), which is closely linked to CardioMetabolic Syndrome.
