Roasted Veggies, Kale and Garbanzo Bean Soup

1 tablespoons olive oil, divided
4 (4 oz) links turkey Italian sausage
2 small carrots, peeled and chopped
3 ¼ cups vegetable broth 1 large tomato, quartered
2 cups finely chopped kale; 1 medium onion, cut into wedges
1 sprig thyme, ½ bay leaf 1 cup butternut squash –chopped
1 -15 oz can of garbanzo beans 1 small red potato
Salt & ground pepper to taste 3 cloves garlic, chopped
