ZRT Basic Metabolites Profile

A baseline view of sex steroid hormone metabolite levels, including estrogen, progesterone and androgens, plus a single cortisol test. 11 tests total. While the Basic test may be sufficient for men, we recommend women test more estrogen metabolites with the Estrogen Essential Profile (estrogens only) or Estrogen Elite Profile (estrogens plus other metabolites).

This test can be used as a general assessment for HRT (hormone replacement therapy).

Testing hormone metabolites give us deeper understanding of the hormone activity in our bodies. Not only can we see how much of each hormone is being produced, but also how the body is processing each of them. Hormone related cancers and other diseases have been linked with excess build up of certain metabolites. This testing can therefore show possible increased risk. For example, high levels of the testosterone metabolite 5-alpha-DHT has been linked with prostate cancer in men with high estrogen.

You may want to test hormone metabolites if you:

  • Have a family history of hormone-dependent cancers, including breast or prostate cancer.
  • Noticing symptoms of hormonal imbalance such as weight gain and insomnia.
  • Showing symptoms of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) such as acne and excess facial hair.
  • Are considering hormone replacement therapy due to menopause.

Dried urine is the most effective way to measure the presence of metabolites in, and being eliminated from, the body. Our easy to use, at home kits make testing accessible and convenient.
