In today's fast-paced world, it's no secret that many of us lead lives filled with constant challenges and stressors, from demanding careers to personal responsibilities that seem never-ending.

Can't Wake Up? Don't Let the Snooze Button Win

Unable to Wake-Up Can Be a Lack of Cortisol
Unable to Wake-Up Can Be a Lack of Cortisol

Wake Up with a Morning Boost of Cortisol Hormone

Many of us know those individuals who can effortlessly wake up without the need for an alarm clock. The moment their eyes open, they're up and about, ready to take on the day with enthusiasm and energy.

We often find ourselves envious of these early risers who appear to achieve what we struggle with. The secret to their wakefulness lies in a well-balanced endocrine system. For approximately 75% of the population, cortisol levels increase by about 50% at the right moment, effectively rousing them from slumber and motivating them to start their day.

However, not all of us are fortunate enough to experience such seamless awakenings. Despite going to bed at the same time every night, some individuals continue to face the daily struggle of getting out of bed in the morning.

Cortisol is often referred to as the "stress hormone," but it plays a vital role in our daily circadian rhythm, which includes waking up in the morning.

Hormone Imbalance in the Modern Era: Is Your Lifestyle Affecting Your Hormones?

In today's world, we have access to an incredible array of modern technology and conveniences that make our lives easier and more enjoyable.

However, it's important to remember that many of the products we use on a daily basis can contain harmful substances that may negatively impact our thyroid health. "What if your situation is not an abnormal medical problem, but simply borderline gland function?

You can take charge of your hormonal balance and learn to restore and revive your hormones."

Asian woman sitting at table looking out windowHormone imbalance can have a severe impact on your health, and yet, it often goes undiagnosed.

You visit specialist after specialist only to be told nothing is wrong. We understand that feeling of frustration and helplessness.

Our modern fast-paced lifestyle means we have less time and reserves to recuperate, whilst simultaneously being exposed to an unprecedented array of endocrine-disrupting chemicals.

Chronic fatigue, adrenal burnout, foggy thinking, fertility issues, inability to lose weight despite exercise and a healthy diet... there are hundreds of symptoms of low or high production of the thyroid, adrenal, and sex hormones.

Canary Club’s at-home saliva and blood spot test kits detect specific hormone imbalances that traditional testing ignores, including TSH, TPO, free T3, and free T4 of the thyroid gland, cortisol and DHEA of the adrenals, and testosterone, estrogen, and progesterone of the reproductive organs. Hormone Imbalance Tests - order lab tests online, DIY at home.

Now you can start to get the answers you need, directly through our at-home thyroid, hormone, and neurotransmitter testing.

Order lab tests online, in the privacy of your home, and see the easy-to-read results for yourself!

How Healthy Is My Brain?

The neurotransmitter test is an assessment of your mental and emotional well-being. When you are in balance, your mood is stable, sleep is refreshing and you are thinking clearly.

We get into a rut when our neurotransmitters are out of balance. We are not motivated to work out, so we are not producing feel-good neurotransmitters, maybe we gain weight and then feel even worse. The brain controls them all, and neurotransmitters control the brain.

Want to improve mood, motivation, or cravings?

The good news is you can easily identify and manage neuroendocrine imbalances like serotonin, dopamine, and epinephrine with inexpensive, over-the-counter nutrients. That's right! Simple vitamin-store items like GABA, tryptophan, or theanine can cool down an anxious set of neuroendocrine imbalances. On the other hand, if your neurotransmitters are sluggish or depressed, you can boost them up with glutamine, tyrosine, or vitamin B6.

Consider testing if you are experiencing symptoms such as:

  • depression
  • anxiety
  • fatigue
  • insomnia
  • low sex drive
  • poor memory
  • addictive behaviors
  • ADD/ADHD
  • OCD
  • severe PMS/PMDD

Like hormones, neurotransmitters require a delicate balance to keep the body functioning at a peak level. When these levels become irregular, the brain gets over- or under-stimulated, resulting in neurological and psychological symptoms. For example, PEA is a biomarker for ADHD.

This thorough test from ZRT Lab shows your overall functional assessment. Your health practitioner will be able to see not only the level of each neurotransmitter and enzyme but also how they are behaving and interacting with each other.

This Neurotransmitter Profile test assesses a range of neurotransmitters and their metabolites. Samples are collected from dried urine four times a day, as neurotransmitters have a short lifespan, pooling some measurements over the four snapshots helps average the results. The add-ons for this test also involve dried urine samples, except for the Saliva Steroid Hormone add-on, which requires both dried urine for neurotransmitters and saliva samples for steroid hormones.

5-HIAA (5-Hydroxyindoleacetic Acid) is a metabolite of serotonin, a chemical/neurotransmitter that is needed by the nervous system, mainly the brain, and also needed by special cells in the lung and gastrointestinal tract. Yes
DOPAC (3,4-Dihydroxyphenylacetic acid) is a metabolite of the neurotransmitter dopamine. Dopamine serves as the reward and pleasure center in the brain. DOPAC and HVA (Homovanillic Acid) are dopamine metabolites. Yes
HVA (Homovanillic acid) is a major metabolite produced by actions on dopamine. Homovanillic acid is used as a reagent to detect oxidative enzymes, and is associated with dopamine levels in the brain. Yes
NMN (Nicotinamide mononucleotide) part of neurovascular coupling, a process whereby blood flow to the brain increases when neural activity increases. Improvement of neurovascular coupling, in turn, improves brain function (cognition). Yes
Tryptophan (Trp) is the precursor of the monoaminergic neurotransmitter serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) Yes
VMA (Vanilmandelate) is the metabolite of norepinephrine (noradrenaline) & epinephrine (adrenaline). They are responsible for the “fight or flight” sensations we experience during stress & anxiety. Yes
