Testosterone, likely the first hormone that you think of in regards to men’s sexual health. 

Testosterone is essential for strength, stamina, the development of the reproductive system, strong bones, and a healthy libido. 

As men reach the fourth decade of their lives, growth hormone (made by the pituitary gland) begins to decline. 

Although some men choose to accept the inevitability of the drop, others naturally increase their levels of growth hormone by upping the intensity of resistance training.

Testosterone and Male Libido:

Testosterone is often tested when the patient talks of low libido. Declining testosterone levels are the number one cause of low libido in males, and plays a contributing factor in females.

Declining testosterone levels are commonly seen in men beginning in the fourth decade of life. Suboptimal or low testosterone levels in males are often associated with symptoms of aging and are referred to as Andropause or male menopause.
